How to prefend conflicting appointments in Outlook Calendar

In Outlook Public Folders I created e few calendars for meetingroom, beamer,
laptop etc. Colleges can make a reservation for those rooms and devices by
creating an appointment in those calendars.
Is there a setting that prefends double appointments on the same moment.
That risk exist when some one created an apointment at a far-away moment and
someone else reserved the same device for a very long period and is not aware
that his periode/reservation conflict with that special reservation/day in
that period.
