How to prevent opening email program

I have a column with email addresses. When I click on one...to edit it...my
email program automatically opens. How can I prevent this action. I'm
using Excel 2002.

I followed the instructions on how to "Deactivate several hyperlinks at
once". This seemed to work for one click. But as soon as focus changed to
another cell, the previously clicked cell then became an active hyperlink to
my email program. (underlined, in blue, and ready to open my email program)

There must be a way to deactivate at this "feature" TIA

Bob,

A simple way is like this:

right click on the hyperlink,
in the little menu that pops up click on "hyperlink",
of the options that follow click on "delete hyperlink" (or words with the
same meaning, I use the Dutch version).

That is all.

In Excel 2002 you can turn it of

Tools>Auto correct Options
See the <AutoFormat as You Type> Tab

Thanks Ron, this is what I was looking for.

But now I have another problem in my spreadsheet. Everytime I open it, I'm
asked to Enable or Disable Macros. This is a pain, since there are no
macros in my Workbook. Earlier I had tried to use the macro approach that
was suggested. Then I deleted the macro. Now when I open the workbook, I
must answer this macro question before continuing. What's going on?
