How to print 2 reports per page

I have a short report I'd like to configure to print 2 to a page. I'll cut
the paper in half horizontally after they are printed.

The report is grouped on a field and the detail section can have anywhere
from 1 to 6 or 7 lines (so the detail section is not static in height).

The only help I could find in this discussion relative to my situation was
one post that advised, "Size the report to print two on a page."

Easily said, but how do I do that, given a dynamically sized detail section?

Thanks in advance!

A trick I have done when I needed to print the invoice twice in a report:

I have created 2 reports (invoices) which are identically the same.

I have create a third report and on the Page header I have inserted the
first as sub-report and in the Page footer I have inserted the second as
sub-report.

Then I have changed the spaces needed for each section and was pretty fine.

Hope this helps.

Creative, but I don't think it will work in my situation, George. For one
thing, I don't want to print the invoice twice in a report. I want the
invoice at the top to have the information from one record and the invoice at
the bottom to have the information from another record. My invoice is just
too small to waste a whole sheet of paper. I'd rather print them "2-up" in
printers jargon and then cut them in half.

Does that shed any futher light on the situation that might prompt some
additional creativity?

If I got it right:

You want to print in a single paper 2 invoices, e.g. Invoice No1 and
InvoiceNo2. If so, How would you select the 2 invoices to be printed? Using
a parameter queries to ask you which numbers of invoice to print? Using a
form to select both invoices?

In either case you may create a report, on the page header to place the
details of the first invoice (using the controlsource you can select your
first invoice) and in the report footer to show the second invoice - this
might be a second report attached to the first as a sub-report (again using
the controlsource you can select your second invoice).

Hope this helps,

You can buy good quality paper for approx $3 per ream (500 sheets). Each sheet
of paper costs approx 0.6 cents. If your time (or whoever is doing the
cutting) is worth $25.00 per hour then unless you can cut and stack in less
than 0.86 seconds per page, your losing time and money. Someone working at
minimum wage can be a little slower. Allowable time = (0.86*25.00/{cutters
cost per hour}

Design your report with a detail section only. That is, without Report, Page
and Section headers and footers. Make the Detail section a fixed height of
approximately 4.5 inches. Include any information you want for the report,
page and sections within the detail section. Play with page margins, location
of "header and footer information" included in the detail section, and detail
height until you get what you want.

Dear Chuck,

Is not a matter of cost always. First is a matter of knowing something and
secondly

Just think how paper is created... Of cource, by cutting trees, disturbing
the environment, disturbing social life, disturbing me and you, disturbing
our lives,

So please have this in mind before making any accounting suggestions.

Why not simply set the Output options of your Printer Driver to "2up"? All
WinNT or later Printer Drivers support multiple page output per single
printed page.

Allows printing 3, 4 ,or more reports per sheet of paper for those of us who
are so ecologically inclined.
