how to print custom size document

I have a document that is 5.5 X 8.5. I have gone into printer properties but
cannot input the size into the custom tab. I have tried other paper sized
but the printer rejects them. How do I get the custom tab to accept my
dimensions and keep them?

Have you checked your printer manual or Help file to see if you're doing it
correctly?

If your printer doesn't allow you to create custom paper sizes, then Word
still does (on the Paper tab of Page Setup). How well your printer will deal
with these sizes remains to be seen; some do better than others. If you find
that your printer and Word can't get together on it, then choose the next
larger size supported by your printer and make up the difference in the
margins.
