How to print Direct Print Tab Dividers

I just don't understand how to print tab dividers! Looking at the template
download "Direct Print Dividers for Proposal (with Buildings; 8-tab...Avery
11537). I don't want to jam the copier so have just printed an 8.5x11 piece
of paper, not an actual tab divider, but the text that should be on the tab
is 1/2 inch in from the edge of the paper. With the tab sticking out beyond
the paper, how would this text print on the tab? Do I need to change the
paper size or change some other setting/size?

Avery Direct Print Dividers allow you to print right onto the tab. The
divider sheet comes folded on the edge where the binder holes are, and the
tab side has an extra strip of removable paper that acts as a guide through
the printer. After you print right onto the tab you unfold the other side,
remove the guide and the tab will then stick out like a regular divider tab.
