How can I print a Word document directly to MS office Image Writer in one
step to the current folder instead of going to the print menu, print to file,
choose a directory and saving from a TIFF file to an mdi file? a macro would
be great!

Retorical question #1:What "current folder" are you refering to? And 2
Yes you are allowed to record your own macros in Word.

Hi Bob,

I'm sorry that I was not clear. My goal is to store mdi documents with word
documents in folders or a designated subfolder with in the original folder I
was working in. Many of my documents have macros including word Fields that
update automatically or accidentally when opened and reviewed. When creating
new documents, this is advantageous as thenew documents serve as readily
updated templates. The problem comes when undesirable updates pop up when I
want to review a word document that has such fields in it. I find that
storing such documents as Microsoft's image writer documents (Microsoft's
answer to the PDF.) very helpful . I like to keep the mdi documents I've
printed in the same folder as the original Microsoft Word document that I'm
printing. What I run into is repeated requests on where I want to place the
new mdi. I then have to go back through hierarchy of my documents to network
places to the folder I'm interested in, to get to the subfolder and then
often a sub-subfolder I'm working in. Isn't there a way to print directly
into the same folder that I'm starting from without having to backtrack from
the lowest common denominator?

Hasn't anyone else encountered this problem???

The "Save As" uses what is set in the File Locations,Documents field in
Options. (Normally My Document) FWIW, Windows does this too. So the only
way to get it to do what you want is to write your own macro (or script)
to run thru all the steps you do manually. (You would need to pull the
"file path" and plug it back into the "Save As" location. Another option
is a third party scripting program like AutoIT, to run though the steps.
