How to programmatically select some emails from the current folder

Hi!
Is there a way in Outlook, to programmatically select a given set of
emails?
I know how to retrieve the Outlook::Selection object but this is an
output
property...

A filter or restriction on the Items collection of a folder will do that.
Remember though that this has no correlation with any selection in the UI.
