If they are custom styles, you can delete them via the Organizer. Built-in
styles, on the other hand, cannot be deleted; what you can do is hide them
from view.
To hide any style in recent versions of Word (2007, 2003, perhaps also
2002), you can use the Styles and Formatting pane (Styles pane in Word
2007). In older versions you can click the Delete button in the Style dialog
box, which won't actually delete the style but reset it to factory defaults
and hide it from view by marking it as not "in use." Note that this doesn't
work with the built-in headings.
