How to put a project plan oin hold

B

Bella

I have the Enterprise version of MSP. There are times when projects are put
on hold due to waiting back on client comments and it throws the rest of the
plan off schedule. I don't want resources to get reminders for the
outstanding tasks so I go into the plan in MSPro and delete them as a
resource which then sends them an e-mail notification that they have been
deleted from the task and it also removes the task form their calendar. I am
asking if there is a better way to do this, so that resoruces always have up
to date tasks in their calendar.

Thanks,
Bella

You are going to way too much work in this situation. Here's what I would
do if I were you:

1. Open the stalled project
2. Click Tools - Build Team from Enterprise
3. Set the Booking type value for each team member to Proposed
4. Click OK
5. Click Collaborate - Publish - New and Changed Assignemnts

Doing the above steps will remove the assignments for this project from each
team member's timesheet in PWA. In addition to the above, I would also do
the following in the stalled project:

1. Click Tools - Tracking - Update Project
2. Select the "Reschedule uncompleted work to start after" option
3. Set the date for this option to the day BEFORE work is scheduled to
resume on the project
4. Make sure the "Entire project" option is selected
5. Click OK
6. Click Collaborate - Publish - Project Plan

When work is ready to resume on this project, you will need to repeat the
first set of 5 steps, and on step #3 you will need to set the Booking type
to Committed. Hope this helps.

Hi Dale,

Your repsonse was great and it did work. The only other thing I would like
to see happen is that the task be removed not only from PWA, but also from
the outlook calendar. Is this possible?
Otherwise, you're my hero!
Bella :)

I believe the team members would need to do this manually inside of Outlook.
Hope this helps.
