anyone know how to quickly repair Outlook 2000: it does not work, when click
on icon, it just load splash screen and stay freeze, not
responding. Where is problem? I tried run Outlook in safe mode - and it
works normally:
outlook.exe /safe
Where and how to repair, and which file exactly? Note that I canno use Help
'Detect and Repair' option since have no setup CD.
However, there is much better and much more advanced ways to repair without
plain reinstalling from setup CD.

What size is your PST file? Have you tried repairing the PST? With Outlook
closed, do a file/folder search for scanpst.exe. Double-click it and follow
the instructions which will include asking you to browse to the PST file so
please make sure you know where it is first. Let it run against the PST
file, if it finds errors and repairs them, when it's done run it again.
Repeat until no further errors are found. Then open Outlook again to see if
this resolves the behaviour.

In addition, if you can run Outlook in safe mode check your Add Ins. One may
be interfering with Outlook's ability to perform. Disable them all, then
open Outlook normally. If it opens, then add them back one at a time, until
you find the culprit.

outlook.pst 98,576KB
outlook.backup.pst 98,576KB
archive.pst 198,320KB

I ran scanpst.exe against the .PST file, this tool find only few minor
errors, repair was optional, I decided to repair, after this step Outlook
works normally. In addition, Outlook Express when launched, now open window
normal size, not resized to small size, as it was before. Thank you for good
advice!

What is safe size of PST file, both for Outlook and Outlook Express? Can I
remove outlook.bak from outlook folder?

Outlook 2007 can have PSTs that are 20GB and more. Outlook Express doesn't
use PSTs at all.

That's the file SCANPST created, correct? If you're satisfied with the
repaired PST, sure. I'd wait a week or two and if everything continues to
work well, then delete it.

That size is 2GB and none of your PSTs is anywhere near that.
