how to recover a file

I have been working with Microsoft Office but I only saved my work on my
pendrive. Now I cannot open it again: 'microsoft office cannot open this file
because some parts are missing... there are problems with the contents'.
Is there any possibility of recovering my work?

No backups available???
If you have not disabled the feature, ON makes backups automatically.

Check the location specified in "Tools | Options | Backup".

Apart: Could you pls explain what you mean by "saved ... on the
pendrive"?
Do you work notebook-files an the sticks directly and without synching
with the computer?
