How to recover a renamed file

I had a doc that I went into my folder and renamed. Then I typed something new in the doc and hit save. Is there a way to recover the text that was in the doc before I renamed it?

If by some unlikely lucky chance you still have the document open, you could
do an ³Undo² (Cmd-Z or on the Edit menu). But if you have deleted or typed
over text and have saved the document, the old text is gone.

But what do you mean ³went into my folder.² Did you save it in Word with
another name or rename it in the Finder and then open it again in Word?

If you saved it in Word (Save As) with a new name, the original document
will be there with your original text. If you (as I assumed) renamed it in
the Finder ... Sorry.

In File Buddy I did find two Temporary Items folders for today that had over 300k in them in 4 docs. Is it possible to get to them?

Change the extension to ".doc" or ".docx" as appropriate, and then try
File>Open from within Word.

If you get lucky, your text will be in there somewhere. Note: It will be
out of sequence: Word simply appends each change to the bottom of a "Temp"
file.

If Word won't look at it with the new extension, try changing "Enable" to
"Recover text from any file". If there is any text in the file at all, that
will get it out, without any formatting or pictures. Again, it will be out
of sequence.
