How to reduce 20% resources across the project?

We are using Project 2007 for multiple projects and linked in the projects
into 1 master project. We would like to be able to find the answer to the
following question:

What will be the impact to the project if resources are reduced by 20%?

How do we do that and determine the impact?

Generally, I would recommend you do the following:

1) Break the links with the subproject.
2) Save a copy of the Master Project
3) Save an interim plan for later comparison purposes (Tools > Tracking >
Set Baseline)
4) Change all of the tasks to Fixed Work
5) Reduce the assignments for each resource by 20%. Go through and modify
each of the assignments manually - which can probably be done pretty quickly
by a) grouping the tasks by resource, and b) using the Assign Resource Dialog
Box
6) Set the maximum units for each resource in the resource sheet at 80%. If
anyone turns red, that means you missed one of their assignments.

Minor correction appended to point #6.
