How to remove a row in a table?

Hi
Using Word 2007
I have a small table, 5 columns wide by 4 rows down
Column 3 is just a divider
Row 3 is blank & I want to remove it, but I can't
Data can be entered in Column 5 Row 3, but nowhere else in row 3

Column 5 with rows 2 & 3 seem to be linked, as they change to colour
blue when selected

Anyone know how to fix please?
I hope you can understand my explanation

What you are describing seems to be merged cells? Place the insertion point
in the cell where you *are* allowed to enter data, and then right-click.
Choose the Split Cells command from the context menu in order to restore the
"missing" cells.
