How to remove automatic space when replying to HTML formatted emai

When I am replying to an email that is in HTML format, and I want to type a
comment between words in the original message, I noticed that Outlook
automatically adds a space on each side after your first key press.

Why is this and is there a way to configure Outlook so that it doesn't do
this?
