how to remove menuitem in template

Hi,
we are developing a small c# project for ms word 2003.
We added new menu items to a word template und bind the functions with
the menu item. The problem is, when the user finished editing the
template and send his custom the word document with email, his custom
will see the menu items and receive an error that the dll can not be
found.
How to remove the new menu item when the user saves the template as a
..doc file?
