HOW to remove MSOffice 2003 ???

L

Linea Recta

I want to remove Office 2003 (Dutch) completely from Windows Vista.
I neatly used 'remove' from installed software in Vista.

Now only the start menu links seem to be removed.
I still have a lot of office trash (106 MB!) in folder and sub folders
under:

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\

\Media
\Office11
\Templates

Now, that's not what I call removing... :-(

I suppose I shouldn't just delete these? How about the register?
How do I proceed?

Hi Linea,

The correct way to uninstall Office 2003 is to use the 'Programs and Features' applet in Vista's 'Control Panel' - select Office
2003 and choose 'Uninstall'.

'Programs and Features' = Add\Remove. Just in case the OP is scratching the head

That's how I tried it in the first place, with the sad results as described
in my first message.

I always try to avoid making a mess, but then it seems ©MS will make it for
me anyway...

In Vista, it's 'Programs and Features', not 'Add\Remove'.

Hi Linea,

Did the uninstall process return an error message about its inablilty to remove certain folders? This usually indicates you've got
some files of your own in there. All the same, the uninstall process should remove all the files that Word/Office installed.

During uninstalling I did not get any error messages. Nor had I put other
files of my own there.
In the meantime I've done some searching on the web and noticed that I'm not
exactly the only one with this problem. But as life goes on and I'm out of
time, I deleted the the map C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\
and all submaps and contents. Then I used Registry Mechanic to clean up all
Office junk and all seems well now :))
