how to remove sunscrit on deleted emails

In outlook 2003, imap inbox, after reading and deleting email, a get a
strikout through the email when deleted. How do I get the email to just
disappear?

Click View>Arrange By>Current View>Hide Messages Marked for Deletion. IMAP
accounts do not delete messages until you tell them to by clicking
Edit>Purge Deleted Messages.
