How to remove the singe quotes from Excel when exporting contacts.

Whenever I export my contacts into Excel, when reviewing the Excel file I see
a single quotation mark in front of ALL first names in the file. It appears
hidden because I cannot see the mark unless I'm clicked on the cell and
looking at it in the text bar (below the menu bar). In other words, if I am
just looking in the cell, I cannot see the quotation mark.

How do I get rid of it using search and replace? This function is not
picking up the quotation mark during the search.

The single quote in the text cells is always present when an XLS file is
generated via the MS Excel driver. Assume that Outlook uses this driver to
create the XLS file on export. As far as I know, that behaviour is intrinsic
to the Excel driver and can't be over-ridden leastwise not by anything we're
aware of (ergo - not a specific Outlook issue). Generally the leading single
quote doesn't impact activities unless you've got macros that specifically
search the cells etc.

Alternative solution: export to a CSV file and open that in Excel - single
quotes won't be present and all you need to do is a "save as" in XLS format.
