Hi,
I am trying to rename projects at server with ProjRenamer, but it doesn't
work. Is there any other way to do this?
Thanks

Alexander --

If you can't get the Project Renamer tool to work, you can do the following:

1. Save the project as an .mpp file
2. Delete the project from the Project Server database
3. Import the project into Project Server with the correct name

Hope this helps.

Hi Alexander,

Which part of the renammer does not work? Are you able to launch the
program? Can you then see your projects? Can you rename? If yes to all,
then you're good to go. If no to these questions, try to uninstall the
renammer tool and reinstall.

In my experience with this utility, I fist was not logged in with
administrative rights. Once I logged in with admin rights, I could rename.
After the project is renamed, you need to open it in Professional and
republish the project. If you do not republish the project, when trying to
update the file with PWA, it will not work as timesheet is still looking for
the old file name. I learned this the hard way.

Dale's method also works. However, what I found is that the protected
actuals from timesheet is no longer linked to the newly created file; this
was unacceptable in our environment.

Tell me more about your issue with renammer not working; it didn't work the
first time I installed, but it works beautifully now.

I logged in as admin and see all projects. When I trying to rename any
project I get "An unexpected error has occured on the server. Please contact
your administrator". As administrator I don't know what's up..

Hi Alexander,

Is the project currently opened or locked by another user? If so, it will
not let you rename. When you highlight a project name, do you see the name,
last modified and owner fields? When I first installed this, I could log in
as myself (administrator), but did not see these fields; I could not change
the file name. When I later logged on as the default administrator, I was
successful; then, I could log on as myself and it worked. I'm not sure what
changed for me...but I think your problems may be because of permissions?

Hi Sara,

I can see the three fields that you speak of but still can't rename it. I
have signed in as me and signed in as the default administrator but nothing
works. If I don't select trusted site then I can't log in at all but then I
can put any kind of garbage in the usnername and password and as long as I
select trusted site it allows me to log in but not change anything.....
regardless if I log in as admin, myself, or garbage.

Any ideas?

Hi Jeremy,

I'm not sure what's going on. Maybe try to reboot the system Rename.exe is
installed on? Or, uninstall Rename.exe and then reinstall?

Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.
