how to repair a pst file with around 2GB size

I am using office 2000 to receive POP3 email. The PST file had grew to
2,064,544KB. Now I can't open the PST file. It will have a message telling
"it need to define the properties of the pst file first." And then, it
suggest me to use the Inbox repiar tool. I have tried the tool. After it ran
a moment, it return a message "An error has occured which caused the scan to
be stopped. No changes have made to the scanned file." I also check the log
file, it had a error message at the last line"Fatal Error: 80040900"
Anyone can give me advice ?
