How to replace in resource in the future

Project Server 2007
What could be the best practice to schedule the replacement of the resource
assigned to a task, with another one, but in the future, not right now?

There is no way to schedule future resource assignments. It must simply be
done manually when that future date arrives. Hope this helps.

I agree with Dale, what you want is not the way the tool works necessarily.
My thought would be to set the current resource to complete work at the
assignment level by a date in the future. Then add the replacement resource
for the future work, setting a scheduling delay on them to begin after the
original resource completes their work.
