how to resolve on insufficient memory of word 2000?

when i compose a message on the microsoft word program, i cant save it either
on floppy disk or in the hard disk!? i received a message erroe stating, "
word has insufficient memory, would you like to save it as a rescued document?

And if you choose that does the resulting document open and save correctly?

Most likely, the file is damaged, or something on your system is not in order.
Does this happen with every (new) document?
