How to restore Normal.dot

How do I restore the original Normal template? Mine has gotten corrupted and
despite deleting, renaming, recreating new templates, the corrupt version
always comes back unless I start Word with the /a switch. Even then, I'm not
able to save that version and replace the corrupted one.

What am I missing?

Can you expand on the "corruption" you are encountering? More than likely
the issue isn't due to your Normal template but attributed to something
else.
