How to restore the ability to delete highlighted text ?

I seem to have lost the ability to highlight a word or phrase and use the
delete key to remove it. I have also lost the use of the home key! any ideas
how to restore these functions please?

Most likely from your symptoms is that Under Tools, Options, General tab,
you have enabled the two WordPerfect options. Disable them (clear the check
boxes).
