how to restrict manager to open and see the projects.

Hi,

I want that manager can see and open 3 projects out of 5 projects in
project professional .

he can see 5 projects in web access and when he open projects in projects
professional only three projects will appear in open dialog box to allow him
open them.
how i can do it and what permission I will give him .

Dear Micheal

Create a new Category "Selected Projects".
Deny Open Project permission in the category.
Add the PM's to the resources of the category.
Add the 2 projects which you dont want the PMs to open it.

This way the managers will not be able to open the projects.

To add on to Micheal question what if you just want Managers to be able
to see 'their' projects? And not any other managers projects. Is
there a way to do that. Also, I'd like to have all the completed
project not show up on PWA or the Open process also.

The default permissions in Project Server only allow a PM to see and open
his/her own projects. Have you changed the default permissions for the
Project Managers group in some way?

The default My Projects category permissions allow Project Managers to open
and save not only projects that they manage, but also projects on which they
are a team member. We usually remove the latter permission.

Good point. The My Projects category defines a project as "my project" if I
am a team member in that project. This is sometimes a source of confusion
and frustration. Thanks for the clarification.
