How to retain sub-totals after refresh

I built a spreadsheet where come columns are importing
data from a SQL database using MS Query. The view my
user is most interested in is a Sub-Total view. While I
can create Sub-Totals once detailed data list appears,
and even edit these sub-total lines to display data we
want to see, I lose these sub-total lines each time I
refresh the data.

Is there any way to retain the sub-total lines after a
data refresh?
