How to retrieve auto-saved email addresses

Hi I am currently using Outlook 2003 SP3 for my small business. The system
was set up previously by an ex-employee, so I am unfamiliar with settings.

This version has been saving email addresses automatically; i.e. when I have
corresponded with someone twice (say, (e-mail address removed)), the next time I type
"ji" into the To: Field, it will automatically pop up "(e-mail address removed)" and
other entries beginning with "ji". For certain customers who have it set up,
their full names will show up (i.e. "Jim Brown" instead of (e-mail address removed)).

However, these names are not listed in my Contacts folder. When I click on
the Address book button, I receive the following message:

"The Address Book could not be displayed. The Contacts folder associated
with this address list could not be opened; it may have been moved or
deleted, or you do not have permissions. For information on how to remove
this folder from the Outlook Address Book, see MS Outlook help"

I am trying to send out a mass email to everyone that I have auto-logged in
my Outlook. Can anyone help me with this issue?

Those addresses are from the autocomplet list, which is seperate from
Contacts, they are contained in a *.nk2 file
There are third party tools, I believe, that can extract the contents, the
list itself is not completely visible within outlook

You have two different issues - the nickname cache or NK2 is storing the
names. See http://slipstick.me/nickname for tools.

The address book failure is a separate matter. If you have Contacts in the
Contacts folder but they are not accessible when you click on the To button,
check these settings:

Make sure the Contact folder is enabled as an email address book. Right
click the Contacts folder, choose Properties then Outlook Address Book. Is
the box to enable as email address book is checked?

If this is grayed out...

Go to Tools | Email Accounts, choose View or change existing directories or
address book. Is the Outlook Address Book present? If it isn't listed, add
it and close and restart Outlook. If it is listed, then remove it and close
then restart Outlook and repeat these steps to add it.
