We are using the MS EPM solution (based on Project Server 2007). Dutch
version, so I apologize if my translation is not a 100% ;-).
The situation is that we are NOT using the timesheet functionality,
but we write actual hours directly in the task. The reason is obvious.
It simply takes more time to (“timesheet + task” scenario):
1. Go to My timesheets
2. Open the timesheet
3. For each task: write actual hours
4. Press save and send
5. then go to My Tasks
6. then press import timesheet
7. then select the right timesheet
8. then press import again
9. for each task: write remaining hours
10. Then select all
11. Then press Submit selected
then to (“only tasks” scenario):
1. Go to My Tasks
2. For each task:
a. Open the task
b. Write the actual hours
c. Write remaining hours
d. Save
3. Then select all
4. Then press Submit selected
This works just fine and the data is stored in the database, so we
anticipated no problems trying to retrieve this data from the
database.
But the we stumbled upon the problem that (using OLAP cubes) we were
not able to retrieve the written hours. Even approved hours. We’ve
tried many things. We even tried to directly dig into the Project
Server database (naughty us), but this is like trying to find the
needle in the haystack. The only thing that works so far is to use the
“timesheets + task” scenario (which is more time consuming)
Therefore we post this question to this group: How can I retrieve
hours written in My Tasks, not using the “timenet+tasks scenario”,
preferably which have also been submitted and approved? The easier the
solution the better.
Thanx in advance for good suggestions.
