How to Return to Prior Page

N

Norm

This must be in Word Help somewhere but I can't find it. :)

I thought it was in Shortcuts but I did not find it.

I thought that if one jumped from one page to another in a long Word doc
that to return to the prior page that they were on you used Cmd-[.

That doesn't work not can I find what should.

I'm currently studying Clive's "Bend ....." and I use his references
frequently but I can't get back to where I was. How sad. ;) :-(

Any tips re: this beginner question?

Thank you.

It's Shift + F5, but the operating system tends to steal F5 so you have to
disable that first.

Thanks much.

And yes, OS X wanted F5.

I gather I should have found this on Word Shortcuts. I'll look again
with bifocals cleaned.

Isn't Norm on Word 2008, John? So this function is not available anyway (nor
the alternative Command-Option-z).

So the best action would be to type an uncommon character such as an omega
(obtained by typing Option-z) just before you close a document and on
re-opening to key Command-f and Option-z in the "Find what" field.

Cheers,

Clive

What a memory. ;) Yes I am on Word 2008.

I did delete/remove two OS X shortcuts that included the F5 key and now
the Shift+F5 seems to be working. I was really testing my memory as I
followed your page references and back in "Bend Word..."

Hmmm... I'm curious. I didn't follow this suggestion even though John's
is working. Is this to return to where I was in Bend when I quit?
The problem I have for easy reading/studying is to return to the
previous view when I follow one of your page references.

Thanks,

Norm

Norm, Command-Option-z or Shift-F5, even in a version of Word in which they
work, won't return you from a hyperlinked destination page to the
originating page. I always remember I need to make a note of the originating
page number -- but only after I have left it!

Clive

Have you tried using View> Navigation Pane? Select Thumbnails from the top
of the pane once it's displayed... May not be exactly what you would prefer
but it should help.

Hi Clive:

Yes, he is.

And yes, it WILL work. Until you save the document.

Which is sort of the same as saying "It won't work" :)

They broke the feature: it strips the bookmarks.

Cheers

Me too. L-(

I was hoping my Mac would help the memory challenged owner. At one time
Cmd-[ seemed to do the trick but it seems to only work sometimes.

Oh well....

Thanks.
