Several times I have run into the following problem:
In Word (my version is 97 but I have seen this in others
as well) if you type in two or more symbol characters (for
example **** or ~~~~ or somtheing similar) as a seperator
between paragraphs, and then forget to add a space at the
end of the string before hitting return, Word converts the
string to a line across the page.
In other words, what is entered as **** becomes
***************************************************** or
something similar.
Typically this can be reversed by using the 'Undo'
function, but that fix assumes that you have noticed the
error occuring and acted immediately to fix it.
If you do not spot the error occuring and repair it
immedialtely, it seems to be impossible to g back and
remove the erroneous graphic. It can not be selected
using the cursor, and no properties come up when you right
click on it.
Is there any way to get rid of this automatically
generated graphic? or possibly some way to turn off the
function that generates it?
I have wondered about this for a while and am often
reduced to a long process of copying, cutting and pasting
into new documents in order to get away from the graphic.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
