How to reverse enforced capitalisation after holding shift down t.

After inadvertently holding the shift key down for some seconds I got an
unintelligible message. Subsequently all typing displayed as capitals. How
do we recover? How do we turn off this silly and annoying 'feature'?

Click on Start | Control Panel | Accessibility Options | Keyboard |
uncheck the "Use StickyKeys" and "Use FilterKeys" boxes | OK.
