How to review a visio drawing in v viewer

I am running Visio standard 2003 and am using the package to develop a
documented business system by hyperlinking flow charts in Visio with text
documents in Word. The people who will be accessing the files do not have
Visio and as such I have installed Vviewer on their machines. I have also
installed Vviewer on my machine but am unable to preview what the documents
look like in Vviewer as the Viso programme appears to take precedence.
Is it possible to toggle between the two?

Hmm. It works on my machine. The Lore is that you have to install the Viewer
after you have installed Visio.

If I drag a .vsd into my browser, I get the Viewer, not Visio.

Visio Viewer 2003
The Visio Viewer 2003 allows users to open, but not edit, files created in
Visio 5.0 or later. New and improved features in this version of the Viewer
include:

a.. Better co-existence with Visio 2003
b.. Better upgrade scenario from Visio 2002 Viewer
c.. Support for multiple languages
Download the Visio Viewer 2003 from the Microsoft.com Download Center.

The Visio Viewer 2003 can coexist on a computer with the Visio 2003
application, with the following results:

a.. If Visio 2003 is installed first, then all users will be able to use
both Visio 2003 and the Visio Viewer. Default file extensions continue to be
associated with Visio 2003, but if a user opens a VSD or VXD file in
Internet Explorer, the file is rendered by the Visio Viewer within Internet
Explorer.
b.. If Visio 2003 is installed after the Visio Viewer, then all Visio
files open in Visio, even when users open them within Internet Explorer. You
can re-enable the Visio Viewer in Internet Explorer by repairing the Visio
installation.
c.. If both Visio 2003 and the Visio Viewer are installed on a computer
but Visio is subsequently removed, then Visio file associations in both
Windows Explorer and Internet Explorer are orphaned. You can re-associate
Visio files with the Visio Viewer by repairing the Visio Viewer
installation.
For full details about the improvements in this release, as well as detailed
procedures for installing and customizing the Visio Viewer, see Deploy
Microsoft Visio Viewer 2003 on the TechNet Web site.

Chris,
I have a similar problem:
A client computer with both Visio 2003 & Visio Viewer installed but not sure
which was installed first. Folder create dates indicate that that Visio 2003
was installed after Visio Viewer, and behavior confirms that as in b. below,
however running Detect & Repair in Visio 2003 did not re-enable Visio Viewer
in IE. Visio files still open in Visio 2003 or not at all. Can you or someone
else reading this help with getting IE to open Visio files with Visio Viewer.

I'm not really concerned about files that open in Visio 2003 rathger than
Visio Viewer. It's thje files that won't open at all. An example of a Visio
file that won't open in IE is a file stored in a Web based application.
