How to save styles separately?

I'm using Word 2007 and here's what I want to do

1) I have a number of document templates for different kinds o
publication that I need to produce

2) I would like to be able to share the same document styles betwee
each of these templates - so that all my publications have the sam
style; and if I want to change the styles I need do it only once in on
place, rather than having to do it in each template separatel
(tedious!)

So, how can I save the styles separately and have all my template
include that particular set of styles? Something to do with savin
quick style-set and setting the saved style set as a default for m
template, is what I'm thinking ... (so am I halfway there?!)

You can create your own style set.
1. In a document that already has your style setting, make sure that all
those styles are in the quick styles gallery and that styles you do not want
there are removed from the gallery.

Note that that you can put the styles in the order you specify by changing a
style's assigned value on the manage styles > recommend tab. Styles in the
quick styles gallery will appear in numerical order; those with the same
value appear alphabetically.

2. Make sure that the settings for the defaults and normal style are the same.
-- A style set is a minitemplate; its default settings will overwrite a
document's defaults when it (the style set) is applied.

3. Go to Styles group > Style sets > Save as Quick Style set. The name that
you choose will appear in
the style set list and can be applied to any document.
