How to see a calendar in mail taskbar?

In the late 90s I used Outlook at my previous job, and was able to have the
calendar and taskbar showing when using the mail folder. I am currently
using Office Outlook 2003 and can't customize it to do this. Is it not
possible any more? Or if it is possible, how do I do it.
