Hi.
Is there a way to see project saved, but not published.?
My executives wants to see projects saved in Project Server 2007, but not
published. They want to control the planning process without using project
professional.

Thanks,
Wilt Rovira

Think about what your executives are asking. The answer is no, they cannot
see the projects that are saved but not published. If they need to control
the planning process, then I would recommend that you use the Proposals
feature. Otherwise, they need to trust the PM's during the planning
process, or they need to mandate that projects be published early on in the
planning process. Hope this helps.

Dale.
The problem with proposal is the functionality. For example, you can just
assign one resource to a task, you cannot identify task types, precedences,
and so on.
My boss would like to see projects in PWA because it's cheaper than Project
Pro. The problem with publishing the project is that resources will receive
emails.

Can i publish the plan, but not the assignments?

I think it's time to have a little talk with your executives. Specifically,
you and they need to talk about process. Right now their expectations are
not realistic, given the default functionality of Project Server 2007. No,
it is not possible to publish the project plan without publishing the
assignments. In Project Server 2003, you could work around this problem by
setting the Booking type to Proposed for each resource in the project. In
2007, setting the Booking type to Proposed does not work, and is a reported
and documented bug. So, that said, your bosses cannot have what they want.
So, you and they need to determine a new process specifically for 2007.
Hope this helps.
