How to set default view?

Hi,

In Excel 2004 I was able to set the default view to Draft simply by changing a blank document to Draft and quitting Excel.

In Excel 2008, I cannot figure out how to make the application startup with a blank document in Draft view and present all new documents to me in Draft mode.

Then you had a *very* unusual version of XL04. That's certainly not how
it's supposed to work!
In Excel 2008, I cannot figure out how to make the application
startup with a blank document in Draft view and present all new
documents to me in Draft mode.

Just as in XL04, one way is to set the "Preferred view for new sheets"
dropdown to "Normal" in Preferences/View/Settings...

Another way (which I prefer, since you can start with custom formats,
number of sheets, etc) is to create a default workbook template. You can
find instructions at the "Change the format and settings for new
workbooks" section of the "Control how workbooks and sheets are created"
topic in Help.
