i' mtrying to insert a hyperlink in a resume that takes the reader to a pdf
file. it works but the path is to the location on my desktop pc. how do i set
the address of the hyperlink so that it'll point to the file on a future cd
(which could be D or E or whatever drive when someone inserts the cd in their
computer. i don't want to make a web page to accomplish this.

Use a relative path: if the Word document and the PDF are in the same
folder, just use the filename without any path as the hyuperlink address.
Note that Word displays the full path as the default screentip, but does
none the less manage the link correctly if you move the files.

i'll give it a try. will the screen tip change when the file location moves
(i.e., you copy the folder to a cd)?

Yes it will. Better still, insert your own screen tip. It's an option on the
Insert Hyperlink dialog.
