how to set up 3 key trigger for macros?

But the customize Keyboard dialog box does not allow me to add a third key.
What is the secret to make it allow a third key?

Cheers,

Perhaps another way to address the question is, ... how do you assign a single initial letter to drop down a 1st level toolbar item?

For example, to create Alt+X,C as as shortcut: Hold Alt, press X,
release X, press C.

If you are trying to add an accelerator key: Edit the Name of the
control (via Tools | Customize), adding "&" before the appropriate
character.

That, on the other hand, cannot be done, as far as I know.

Have we finally exhausted the capabilities of Word? :)

Ah, .... I should have said 4 key rather than 3 key, like Alt+c,d,e. How
to do this?
:)

If you want a menu to drop down then you assign an accelerator key to it.
This is done by prefixing the appropriate letter with an ampersand in the
caption.. Suppose you have a menu called "Caption". To cause it to drop down
on Alt-c, set the caption property to "&Caption". You will now see that the
actual caption has a underline on the C.

You can do the same to submenus, which will then dropbown when you press the
appropriate accelerator key once the menu has been opened.

Does this work only if there is no other shortcut key beginning with the same letter? I do understand that the underline shows up
when using and ampersand in front of the letter, ... but I've not been able to make the Alt+single key down the submenu even when
using a key that has not been assigned.

Yes, it should work the same as with the items on the main menu. For
example: Alt+T displays the Tools menu; then press O for the Options
dialog box.

Aha! I see that what you've described works in regular MS Word when I do not have an attached template. Is there a way for this to
work with attached template toolbars?
Cheers,
