how to set up a tickler file?

I saw a brief statement that one can set up a tickler file in Outlook. Are
there specific instructions for doing this?

Not sure what you mean exactly. I tend to treat my inbox as my tickler -
anything in it is waiting to be dealt with, and then filed or deleted.
Depending on your version of Outlook (which is important to mention when you
post in here) you can use reminder flags for followup/etc.

Use Tasks for things to do - that's what they are for. Reminders are
misnamed "interruptions" IMHO.

Your Tasks will appear in the TaskPad each day - right beside that day's
appointments. Set start dates and use the View | TaskPad View | active
Tasks for slected days and each Task will apear on the Start Date and go red
the day after Due date.

Emails can be draged straight to the Tasks folder (right drag to Move).
