How to set up macros for the local system account

We have a small app which entails the use of macros in word to modify
documents. We want to run this app as a service but the 'local system
account' does not 'see' the macro. If we set up the service to use a user
account then it all works.

How can we set up the machine so that a service using the system account can
also use word macros?
