How to setup a web service?

I am just starting to explore the use of infopath and it appears you can
create forms that can be used on a web server. Here is my scenario: I would
like to create forms that submit the data entered to a SQL database. I would
like to put those forms on our companies intranet. Within infopath I have to
publish to a web service and I cannot seem to find any information on setting
up a web service to do what I described above. Can anyone give me the
InfoPath Web Service setup for dummies to assist me with this? Thanks in

Thanks for the info and the links, very helpful. If I chose not to use a Web
Service as you mention, how do I call the InfoPath form I've created from a
link on our intranet so that it can be filled out and submitted on-line? Do
all user need to have InfoPath installed? Do I simply copy the InfoPath form
file to our web server and create a hyperlink to it?
