How to setup "mail notification" for project server 2007?

Dear all,

I configured Exchange Server 2003 with DC together in the same server and
use internal mail boxes settings only (the Exchange Server not deploy to
Internet and I don't know how to do Internet deployment, this is another
issue).

Computer name: project
Domain: epm.yanz.com
Netbios name:epm

What is the requirement for me to configure "mail notification" functions?
It take me two days to try many kinds of configurations, but still failed to
received notify mails.

My configuration is as follows:
SMTP mail server:192.168.10.8 (local ip of "project") port: 25
sender address: (e-mail address removed)
company domain: epm.yanz.com

In my DC, SMTP service is running.

Thanks a lot.

Best regards.

Jiaheng:

The first requirement is a working mail server. If you can't verify that
your Exchange server is otherwise working, this conversation is somewhat
silly. If you can verify that it's working, you must configure your exchange
server to allow mail relay from your Project Server machine.

Dear Mr. Gary L. Chefetz,

Thank you very much for your quick and clear responding.
Does "a working mail server" mean that it's a mail server for internet
incoming and outgoing mailing, not for internal mails?
We need:
1. A fixed IP address;
2. A domain name from ISP;
3. DNS configurations;
4. Other settings.
Thanks again, I will have a try.
