I would like to view my gantt chart at top, task details form on bottom left,
and Notes on bottom right. Is this possible?

Melissa,
Sorry, you can't get there from here with Project. The best you can do
is to go to Window/New Window and make three separate windows of your
file. Since there is not a special view for the Notes field only, you
will need to create a custom view that shows only the Notes field and
perhaps the Task ID, for easy referencing. Then when you go to
WIndow/New Window, you will see:
Your file:1 Gantt Chart
Your file:2 Task form
Your file:3 Custom view for notes

Use Window/Arrange All to see all three on a single screen. The Gantt
Chart will be on the left half of the screen and the other two views
will occupy the upper and lower panes of the right half of the screen.
However, unless you have a really big monitor, you won't be able to see
much of the Gantt.

I suggest you limit yourself to a simple split screen view. You can read
the Notes field either by adding it as a column or hovering your mouse
over the notes icon in the Indicators field. Be advised though that when
viewed this way, the notes will be truncated at either the first 255
characters or the first line feed, whichever occurs first.

Hope this helps.

Sorry, no but you can either insert a notes column in the Gantt chart or
view Task notes in the task form (right-mouse-click the form)

Thank you to both John and Rod for the helpful response. You are right in
that I can hover my mouse over the Notes column to view the mouseover text
but I generally prefer not to work with my mouse and use keyboard shortcuts
instead...
Nonetheless, I think I will put this up as a suggestion for product
development.

Cheers!

Hi Melissa

I have agreed with your suggestion.

Also, as another alternative, have you thought of creating a new table with
the fields that are in the task form and also the notes field. Then show
this table in the bottom pane instead of the task form.

You could then create a new view (combination view) which shows your gantt
chart (+table) at the top and this new table at the bottom

Hi Melissa

I would recommend Mike's tutorial. It is good.

For a short answer -
go to View / Table: (Entry) / More Tables
then select copy
Give the table a new name & select new or delete the fields you require
I would then create a new view with this table in.

let me know how you get along & rate it, if is is helpful
