How to show blank milestone dates

L

Lorveney

Hi,

I am just completing an Access database enhancement to export milestones to
Microsoft project (using office automation in VBA).

Whilst some of these milestones in Access have Baseline and Actual dates,
others are blank. When these 'blamk' milestones are imported into Project
they are given a default date. Is there a way (by setting
Application/Project defaults, perhaps?) of keeping these milestone dates
blank or making them NA or similar?

I am setting the tasks' duration to 0 to make them milestones.

I am using Access 2003 and Project 2007.

Thanks

Hello Lorveney,

No, sorry. All tasks in Project will have a start and finish date,
including milestones. When you add tasks to a project they will be
scheduled for either the start date of the project (as set in
Project > Project Information in Project) or on the current date.
Whether the task is scheduled on the project start date or the
current date in controlled on the Schedule tab in Tools > Options.
You cannot add tasks to a project with no date.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Hi Julie,

Thanks for the prompt response. I did think that might be the case.

I will need to consult with my client, but since this is mainly for
presentation purposes, not for actual planning, what I might explore is
setting the dates and duration cells to font color white in these instances.

Cheers and thanks again.

Hi Lorveney,

You're most welcome for the assistance and thanks for the feedback.
I was going to suggest setting the font color to white as well, but
I see you've already worked out that trick.
