how to show my spelling error while typing or after typed?

Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Power PC

I use Word 2008 for Mac in my MacOSx. I activated the spell check and grammar check. While I am typing and editing my Word doc, I can not get any indicating for my error on my mis-spelling words. How to open it on?
I also put the icon "hide spell errors"on top of my customized bar, but I just could not click it ON. Maybe that the "bug"??

Two things need to be correct for this to work:

1) Check Spelling... And Check Grammar as you type must be ON

2) The Language of the text must be set to one for which you have Spelling
and Grammar installed.

For example: If the language of the text in a document is set to "English
NZ" and you have "English US" installed, your spelling checker won't work in
that particular document.

Look in the Help under "Spelling" for procedures to change this.
