How to sort whole paragraphs in MS Word?

R

Ricardo

I have a list of words with explanations and examples below each of them.
It's a kind of mini dictionary built for learning purposes. I keep them in a
Word 2003 file. How should I organize it so I could sort the words (together
with the corresponding explanations) paragraph-wise? Now, when I use the
sort option the file becomes messy, of course?
Any ideas? Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

Assuming you set up each word AND its description in a single paragraph
like:

"ACD" shall mean ...
"qws" shall mean ...
etc.

Then highlight all of the paragraphs and select "Table" > "Sort"

You do not need to format an actual table.

Use a two column table. Word in left column, definition in right.

Thanks for the suggestion. I actually thought of that myself but... I would
rather not build a table as the left column would unnecessarily take too
much space for just a word or short phrase while the right column containing
all of the notes and examples would have to be narrower.

Well, my paragraphs are probably not what you would technically call a
paragraph as I have New Line Feeds within them, and in that case your method
won't work, will it?
