How to start Page Numbering over in Document.

My customer has a word document that is broken into three sections. They want
different numbering for Sections 2 and 3 but the auto number generator is not
working properly. If I set it to 1 the number starts at 2. If I set the
numbering to 0 it changes to 0. Note this is only occuring in Section 3 of
the document.

Section 1
Page 1 (No Footer)
Section 2 (Footer with Page numbering in Roman Numerals)
Page 2 I
Page 3 II
Page 4 III
Page 5 IV
Page 6 V
Section 3 (Footer with Page numbering in normal numbers)
Page 7 2 (2???? WHY DOES IT START AT 2?)
Page 8 3
Page 9 4

I have tried to insert page breaks but that doesn't solve it. I also tried
some complex method using bookmarking but all I got was confused and very
messy footers.

numbering is incorrect, it's likely you have it restarted in a "landlocked"
section (multi-column?) somewhere in the middle of a page. To access that,
you need to either insert a temporary page break or very carefully open
Insert | Page Numbers from within that section, use just the Format Page
Number dialog, and then be sure to click Close rather than OK for the Page
Numbers dialog.

Alternatively, if you have either "Mirror margins" or "Different odd and
even" enabled, then Word assumes you will be duplexing, and it won't let you
put an odd page (1) on the back of an odd page (v); use an Odd Page section
break (which will cause Word to throw a blank page vi), and you should then
get 1 in Section 3.

You think that the body of text effected what was in the Footer?

I don't understand your question. But my guess is that the problem is as
described in my second paragraph.
