how to stop attachments from "zipping"

When I try to attach a document, it zips the file which really isn't large
enough to be a zip file. How can I stop this?

Configure your zip program so that it doesn't do it. It's not a feature of
Outlook, it's a feature of whatever zip program you have installed.

Has some kind of add-in been installed in Outlook? I have read of 3rd party
apps that do this but have never tried one. I don't believe Outlook does
that natively.
