how to stop "create your drawing here" every time textbox clicked

Whenever I want to add a textbox or even just a straight line to a word
document, a pesky box appears, in the wrong place, with grey text: "create
your drawing here". It is an annoying time-waster. I click CTRL+Z to get rid
of it; how can I stop it appearing at all? I'm using Office 2003.

Thank you
